10-20 years ago this question could not even arise in my mind … There was no reason. But now there are more reasons than it seems.
It is enough to visit any monument in Volgograd, located at a considerable distance from the city center, and all at once will fall into place.
The well-known Wikipedia says that:
A monument is a structure that supports the memory of something.
And also the word monument, which has the same root with the word memory.
Just looking on the condition of some Volgograd memorials, it turns out that they have long ceased to support our memories of very recent events.
I will say more, the monument itself is hardly capable of performing this role if people themselves do not want it. And people, apparently, do not want to.
One of the memorial in complexes the Kirovsky district of Volgograd prompted me to these thoughts. , judging by the absence of any designations, there is no name either.
I dare to suggest that this is a monument to the defenders of the Red Tsaritsyn. According to the inscription inscribed on the arched reinforced concrete wall, it was possible to find out that this is a mass grave. The caption reads:
Here in 1919, 1500 heroic defenders of Red Tsaritsyn were brutally shot by the White Guards.

This complex was opened in 1975 at the place where mass executions really took place, and later a mass grave appeared. The author of the monument to D.V. Ershova.
How the complex looked initially, unfortunately, is not known. Well, it certainly isnt. Judging by the destruction that is visible with the naked eye, no human has stepped here for a long time.

I dare to assume that earlier this place was accepted as a pioneer. The place is the most suitable for this. Therefore, why not take the patronage of one of the nearby schools over this monument now? Put it in order, plant flowers, if possible improve the territory.
