Visited the filming location of the 1968 film «The Age of Transition» in Volgograd. I show how the city has changed since then.
Feature films shot in the hero city of Volgograd can be counted on one hand. Among them a worthy place is taken by the film of director Richard Viktorov «The Transitional Age» of 1968, where the heroine Olya Alekseeva was splendidly played by the then schoolgirl Elena Proklova.

The film was well received by both critics and the general public.
For me, as a resident of Volgograd, it is also valuable because it allows me to return to Volgograd 52 years ago and see the city as my parents saw it at the time of my birth.
Since it was the central part of the city that was first rebuilt after the war, the film was shot exclusively in the center, but this was enough for the so-called «nature».
Let me remind you that only 25 years have passed since the Battle of Stalingrad, and in the frame we can already see the revived Volgograd (Stalingrad before 1961).
I recently decided to take a walk around the filming locations and see what has changed since then. I invite you to join me.
The film begins and ends with frames from the Volga bank. Now, of course, these places are unrecognizable.

The granite staircase leading to the bank of the Volga, where Olya Alekseeva talks with the writer Sergei Smirnov, is now practically unrecognizable, although the familiar outline remains.

Since 1968 in general # Volgograd (filming location) has changed little, although there are places in the city that are truly regrettable.
Elena Proklova, who played the heroine of the film, then in 1968, was waiting for a wonderful acting career. I wonder what she remembers about the filming of the movie «Transitional Age»?
